BasinTools, an extension for ArcGIS, computes up to 30 morphologic basin characteristics. BasinTools is an abosolute must for anyone computing flood frequency equations. Numerous state and federal agencies use BasinTools on a daily basis including the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Water Resources Division, the United States Forest Service, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Agency. BasinTools is also used by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. Algorithims used in BasinTools have been validated by the USGS under the name "BasinSoft" (Please refer to USGS WRIR 4207 titled "BasinSoft - an application to compute morphological basin characteristics").
